Everyone Deserves a Voice AAC Camp
Time 2 Talk Therapy Services, LLC is offering a summer AAC camp for campers as an intensive language and literacy experience. No more than 10 campers will be accepted and matched with clinicians and volunteers for fun and exciting individual and group activities over 16 days that spans 4 weeks at the Carbon County clinic located at 521 Bridge Street in Lehighton, PA to build language, literacy and overall confidence using their AAC systems.
Besides the excitement, comradery, and opportunities for campers to talk with their technology campers will leave with a portfolio notebook that contains:
Work created by the camper Core Words targeted throughout the duration of the camp with supporting materials/activities for home, school, and community carryover Summary of effective evidence-based intervention strategies AAC handouts to share with the campers’ school team/healthcare support team Examples of IEP and/or Transition Plan goals/objectives Parent training materials and resources Recommendations from parent consultation meeting: will be given by the conclusion of camp or mailed out later Location: 521 Bridge Street Lehighton, PA 18235Camp length: 4 weeks, Monday through Thursday
Tentative Dates:
July 1st - July 25thCamp sessions: 3 sessions, participants are taken on a first come, first serve basis.
Preschool: 9:00am - 11:00pm (limit 5 participants) Level 1: 10:00am - 12:00pm (limit 5 participants) Level 1 are considered early communicators and/or they have behaviors that need to be worked through that require more 1:1 from our staff. They also may be younger or just received an AAC device so are still working on very early forms of communication (wants/needs/protests). The literature for this group will be simpler text/shorter books. The words modeled within literature in this group will be 1 word per page.
Level 2: 9:00am - 1:00pm (limit 12 participants)
Level 2 are considered intermediate or advanced communicators. The individuals in this group are typically older (later elementary or middle school aged), however, younger individuals (early elementary aged) may be accepted into this group because they have mastered basic wants/needs/comments/protests and are ready for more advanced social communication. Many of these individuals already know their letters of the alphabet, recognize sound/letter correspondence, and have shown some ability to read or are already able to read. They may also be typing or spelling or have shown an interest in such skills. The literature for this group will be more advanced/longer books. The words modeled within literature in this group will be 2 words per page versus just 1.Camp Includes

Everyone Deserves a Voice AAC Summer Camp depends on the assistance of speech-language pathologists (SLPs) and undergraduate/graduate students in communication disorders and rehabilitation sciences to volunteer to assist our campers.

Skill Focus: Social Communication (conversational turn taking, initiating conversation, topic maintenance, problem solving, recognizing sarcasm, humor, bullying)
Cost: $35 per session or enroll in all sessions for $200
Age Groups
Groups are run by ASHA certified speech language pathologists and certified special education teachers.
